The next RTA volunteer trail work opportunity will be on Sunday, October 12th. We will work from 9 am to about 1pm at Hood Mt. Regional Park and Open Space Preserve, 1450 Pythian Road, Santa Rosa. We will help finish construction of a new trail that extends Lawson Trail to Lawson Peak. There will be a variety of trail tasks for everyone. We will meet at the public parking lot at the end of Pythian Rd, and shuttle to the work site in high-clearance vehicles. Let us know if you are willing to be a driver. We have parking passes for those that don't already have a Regional Park pass. We will have tools and snacks and after trailwork, we'll provide lunch and beverages. Wear a long sleeve shirt and pants (poison oak is present), and bring a hat for the sun, gloves, and sturdy shoes or boots. And water that you can take with you while working. RSVP REQUIRED for attendance. In order to reduce waste and avoid spending limited funds, please let us know if you need to cancel after registering so that we order the correct amount of food. Reminder to all Hood Mt. trail users - Newly constructed trails require time to "cure" and become great, durable trails. Using trails when fresh and soft, right after construction creates ruts and damages the tread surface that then hardens, creating long term drainage problems and rapid trail deterioration. So, STAY OFF LAWSON PEAK TRAIL UNTIL SPRING 2026. And then enjoy a great new addition to Sonoma County trails. Thank you,
Ken Wells
